29th Annual General Meeting of the Lanka Rain Water Harvesting Forum

The Lanka Rain Water Harvesting Forum (LRWHF) successfully held its 28th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on October 10, 2026, at the Rain Centre in Pelawatte. Members came together ( both in person and online) to discuss key achievements, review progress, and elect the leadership for the coming year.

Opening Remarks

The AGM began with a warm welcome from the Chairperson of the Forum, Mr. M. M. M. Aheeyar, who thanked members for their unwavering support and commitment to advancing sustainable rainwater harvesting in Sri Lanka.

Annual Progress Report 2025/2026

The highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the Annual Progress Report 2025/2026 by Dr. Tanuja Ariyananda, Chief Executive Officer of LRWHF. The report outlined the organization’s activities and achievements, reflecting the growing importance of rainwater harvesting as a sustainable water solution.

Financial Report 2025/2026

Mr. Rajith Kakillarachchi Finance Manager on behalf of the treasurer presented the Financial Report for 2025/2026, together with the audit report, outlining the organization’s financial performance and use of funds in pursuit of its goals.

The members formally adopted the minutes of the last AGM, the Annual Progress Report, and the Financial Report.

Election of Office Bearers for 2026/2027

The Board of Directors for 2026/2027 remains largely unchanged from the previous year, with existing members continuing in their positions and new members appointed. The following were elected or re-elected to the Board of Directors for 2026/2027:

As LRWHF begins another year, the Forum remains committed to promoting sustainable water solutions and empowering communities across Sri Lanka. Under its dedicated leadership, LRWHF will continue its vital work of addressing water scarcity through rainwater harvesting (RWH) technologies. The Forum’s future plans for 2026/2027 include:

 

• • Implementing Integrated Resource Management in the Kotavehera Divisional Secretariat (DS) area

• • Compiling a comprehensive South Asian Regional RWH Country Study

• • Supporting the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Water Supply to promote RWH

• • Expanding and increasing RWH promotion in the private sector

• • Expanding fundraising for demonstration, research and policy advocacy
